Skidcar is a Swedish invention from Gotland; a modern and educational tool for driver training and Risk 2 (Skidpan).
Skidcar consists of a frame that is bolted under the car. Skidcar utilizes the fact that the less a car wheel is pressed against the ground, the less friction there is. So, Skidcar lifts the car’s wheels off the ground to the desired friction level. If the wheels are lifted completely, the friction between the car and the surface is zero, which corresponds to pure aquaplaning.
Skidcar lifts the front and rear wheels independently to easily and pedagogically demonstrate oversteer and understeer. Between full friction and zero, there are an infinite number of friction values. All these friction values are theoretically possible to achieve with Skidcar. Since all friction values can be obtained, it is also possible to simulate almost all types of slippery conditions.
The operation of the Skidcar is managed by the instructor, who sits in the passenger seat next to the student.
